Powerful Mornings

In my last blog, The Night Person Is Ruining You, I talked about how crucial your night routine is. At the end of the day, we sometimes get a little selfish — staying up too late, skipping our routine, and making decisions we regret in the morning.
But now, let’s look at the other side of the story: Morning You — and how often she’s set up to fail.
“I’ll Just Do It Tonight…”
We push everything — self-care, meditation, hydration, movement, even a few moments of stillness — to the end of the day, when we’re the most tired. And then we wonder why none of it happens.
Here’s the truth: expecting the most exhausted version of yourself to do everything is unfair — and unrealistic.
Mornings Have Power
Not just because they’re quiet and peaceful, but because they set the tone. The first few hours of your day are like a reset button — and using them with intention takes pressure off the rest of the day (especially off Night You).
And no, this isn’t about waking up at 5 a.m. to run 10 miles.
This is about small, simple shifts that can change everything:
Drink water before your coffee
Step outside for fresh air
Move your body for just 10 minutes
Check in with yourself before checking your phone
Do one small thing that reminds you you matter
Build a Morning Routine That Works for You
You don’t need a perfect routine — just one that helps you feel grounded and present.
Waking up a little earlier (especially before the kids) gives you something powerful: space to focus on you. The more you anchor your morning with energizing habits, the less likely you are to feel overwhelmed later in the day.
Here’s a quick exercise: Write down your ideal morning — from wake-up to walking out the door. Ask yourself:
How do I want to feel?
What do I want to do?
What needs to happen so I can show up as my best self?
Some days will go off track, and that’s okay. The beauty of mornings is: you get a new chance every single day.
I’ve noticed that when I start my day with movement, get dressed, and check in with myself before the chaos begins, everything feels better — I’m more patient, more engaged, more me.
Health Coach Tip:
Have a plan that fits your lifestyle. We all have different rhythms and responsibilities, but one thing is universal: when your mornings are intentional, your entire day feels more in sync.
