These French toast sticks are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or snack option, and the whole wheat bread adds a touch of extra nutrition. Dip them in sugar-free syrup for a sweet and satisfying treat with fewer added sugars.

French Toast Sticks

Ingredients

  • 1 egg

  • A splash of milk

  • A dash of vanilla extract

  • A pinch of cinnamon (optional)

  • 2 slices of whole wheat bread

  • Cooking spray or a little butter for the pan

  • Sugar-free syrup for dipping

Directions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the egg, a splash of milk, a dash of vanilla extract, and a pinch of cinnamon if you like.

  2. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with cooking spray or a small amount of butter.

  3. Dip the bread into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides evenly.

  4. Place the coated bread on the preheated skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy.

  5. Once the French toast sticks are cooked to your liking, remove them from the pan and let them cool for a minute, cut each slice of whole wheat bread into strips, creating "sticks."

  6. Serve your French toast sticks with a side of sugar-free syrup for dipping. Enjoy!
